Why I like listening to binaural beats while coding or studying! I watched a video on youtube about a women who attended Flatiron School and how she passed all her code challenges on the first try. One thing that stuck out to me was how she said listening to different binaural beats at specific hertz helped her concentrate. During phase one I had to re-take the phase one code challenge, because for the first hour I got really bad testing anxiety. After that first hour I started cruising through each deliverable but I did not have enough time to figure out the last deliverable. My lead instructor said I was really close but he said I would have to re-take it and pass all the core deliverables in order to move forward. I was fine with this because I knew I just needed a way to stay calm and focused during the next one and I would most likely be able to pass.

Binaural beats are an effect created by two similar but not identical sounds, which when heard separately, each produce a beat. Those sounds can be combined and played through headphones or speakers at different volume levels depending on the hertz. The difference in the signal creates a pulsing sound as the brain tries to reconcile the two different tones of sound together, which produces a third tone that your brain perceives as going deeper inside your head while producing no external sound. Binaural beats can reduce stress and anxiety, increase focus, concentration, and motivation and can give you improved confidence. I think that being confident during a code challenge can help you out a lot. It is all a mind game when it comes to confidence and sometimes music can help put you in a different mind set.

One type of hertz music I like to listen to is for accelerated learning. It uses 40hz and 6 hz. Gamma Waves are associated with higher awareness states, such as those seen during intensive task processing, or Tibetan monks meditating on the intent of compassion. The particular one I listen sometimes while studying is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vLEek3I3wac . It uses gamma monaural beats for intellectual acuity which is the 40hz. And theta binaural beats for memory stimulation which is the 6hz. I listen to this pretty low in headphones every time I am learning something new or starting a new tech. I really enjoy how mellow this one is and how it helps keep me calm and very focused on what I am trying to learn.

Another song I listen to is 432hz cognition enhancer. This one uses deep alpha binaural beats for deep concentration and focus. It encourages all brain cell dendrites to operate with the maximum information flow possible between both hemispheres. Scientists call this “whole brain synchronization” and when achieved, your brain experiences extremely beneficial changes in hemispheric blood flow and chemistry. When the two hemispheres of our brain are synchronized with each other the potential and resources in our subconscious mind (connected to the right hemisphere) becomes awakened in this synchronization. Numerous electroencephalograph (EEG) studies have shown that humanity’s greatest philosophers, thinkers, inventors, and artists use both brain hemispheres together, in unison. 432hz music works to balance both hemispheres of the brain, forcing them to work in harmony! Most people use one hemisphere more than the other creating an imbalance in their physiology and psychology. There are also songs that have subliminal messages in them that can help make you confident in programming and in life. One thing I keep hearing about programming is that sometimes it is easy to get imposter syndrome. Imposter syndrome can sometimes play a big part in peoples lives and effect them in such negative ways. I found a subliminal message song for coding that I listened to one time after I got imposter syndrome and it made me feel so much better, it made me feel like I could do anything! Going to Flatiron school has been such a crazy amazing journey that sometimes can get you down if learning something new doesn’t click right away or is difficult to understand. I found that sometimes taking a break and listening to this song reminds me that anything is possible and we as humans can learn anything as long as we work hard enough and believe in ourselves. I would suggest that if you listen to any subliminal messaging songs that you make sure they are good for you and don’t have any negative affirmations. Affirmations are positive statements that can help you overcome self-sabotaging and negative thoughts. When you repeat them often, and believe in them, you can start to make positive changes in your life and learning journey. If you are curious to what song I listen to for this you can listen at this link. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Gt78rOd2g8

To wrap things up I am going to stop here and just say that many people know music is such a powerful thing and can play a huge roll in peoples lives. People listen to certain music when they are sad, they also listen to certain music when they are happy or at a party. Music can effect the brain in so many different ways and totally flip your attitude around after you listen to an amazing song. There are so many different types of music and so many different frequencies that can help your mind in so many ways. I use binaural beats/hz music sometimes to help keep me concentrated, help my brain work at its maximum capabilities and help keep me calm and confident while doing code challenges or studying. Learning new programming languages is not easy by any means and things can get tough sometimes. Flatiron School has taught me that I can learn so many things in such a short period of time that I never thought I could. Thank you for reading my blog about hertz and binaural beat music and hope you enjoyed. Music Is Awesome!!!
